Poster: A snowHead

Does anyone know whether there is an Italian "Carte Neige" and, if so, what it's called?
Many thanks.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

And is there, indeed, a Swiss equivalent? Thanks.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Mark Hunter, there is a Snowcard which IIRC works on a day pass basis anyway in selected swiss and italian resorts. Google "Snowcard" for Swiss and check out the Monterosa sites for the Italian version. You may find there is a seasonal equivalent.

In my experience Italians don't ski off piste.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Mark Hunter, you don't need it in Italy. You're not charged for piste to ambulance evacuation.

Lizzard, which leaves off piste rescue, which some ordinary travel insurance doesn't cover.

bh1, Oh, just back from Courmayeur where I was offered, very charmingly, some sort of insurance for EUR2 per day. I already have ski insurance, but I thought for EUR2 it would be well worth it if it got me off the slope in a hurry if needed without digging around for policy documents. If piste to town is covered anyway, what was I paying for?!

bh1, And (even if you are correct which I am not convinced about at least in val d'Aoste, but don't have facts to hand) - what about costs once you're in the ambulance?
The Monterosa version is called Snowcare and is detailed on their website. I seem to recall seeing a sliding scale of charges at the weekend for on piste, off piste and very very off piste rescue at the Champoluc ticket office. But I wasn't paying that much attention.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

When we were in Claviere a couple of weeks ago, we bought a day pass before buying our 6 day passes. We were offered additional insurance for 2 Euros with the day pass, but not with the 6 day pass.
Just ask for additional insurance when you get your tickets.
