Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Deux Alpes next week. Hot!?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

Two weeks ago we booked a week in Les 2 Alpes from 6th April. Conditions looked amazing but the latest forecast is for insanely warm conditions at all heights.

Has anyone been recently and seen the snow amounts? Are we likely to have our week cut short?

Cheers!

Just seen a skipedia snow report from L2A, might be useful/reassuring:

Ah that is reassuring, thank you. The temps forecast at 2000-3000 M next week are so mild I was concerned that choosing a high ski area wasn't going to be enough!

Back a few years now, 2011 in fact, we went to L2A mid April on a last minute deal with Ski World, booked a couple of days before flying out.

We arrived to temperatures in the mid 20s and sat outside a bar for a drink in shorts and t shirts. Fortunately, one of L2A's big plus points is it's vertical m's of skiing available, with the glacier up around 3600m.

You'll have plenty of skiing available to you, and the forecast shows things cooling down a bit early next week with some potential snow down to almost village level.

It was a memorable trip, not just for that but also my youngest brother breaking his collarbone with me having to escort him down in a helicopter (1st and only Heli ride for me), the next day receiving a call from my middle brother's school to say he'd broken his collar bone on a school trip to Austria, and then also an afternoon spent playing golf in the village with the rep and a couple of his mates.

Fun times Laughing

That does sound like a memorable trip! Managed many many years of skiing without drama but then last year our ski trip was in Devoluy and one of our party broke their ankle on a ski lesson, and the year before that (at Val Cenis) another person in our group (of 22 persons) managed to snap *both* skis on entry level lessons... somewhat incredible. Looking forward to next weeks trip, just two of us heading out.

If it makes you feel any better, we're booked for 2 weeks after you. I'm not worried. It could be sloppy but there'll be skiing if some sort. I love a spring bargain!

That's got to be pretty rare. As an April regular I don't recall the last time that side was open so late in the season.

I think our accommodation is Valley Blanche side, near the intersport. Is it a bit of a pain to get to the lifts for the runs on the other side of the valley then if Blanche skiing is closed?

Well it’s definitely open as we were on it yesterday. Last snowed yesterday. I agree very unusual for this time of year

@bratch, we stayed on the Vallée Blanche side one Easter when that side was closed and it was a bit of a schlep to the other side - there are buses though. As said, plenty of vertical so there'll be decent snow up high. Allow for cooler temps on the glacier. Even in our very warm Easter (2015) you could ski down from the main area although I was water skiing towards the bottom Cool

I was there last week - had a great dump of snow (then crazy wind, which shut most lifts but that's besides the point).

The snow up the top near the glacier was really, really good Very Happy
