The good news is that the forecast snowline for tomorrow evening has edged down a little further - now at 2100m/2200m (at warmest time which is tomorrow evening, 8pm). Ok that's still too high but it's an improvement.

Bl00dy weather
It is absolutely chucking it down with rain throughout the Savoie up to about 2300m, and is forecast to carry on doing so until tomorrow lunchtime......

On the other hand, I assume there's heavy snow above 2500m?

Pretty wet snow though, and they'll probably have to blast it off the Aiguille Rouge, it's the sort of stuff that slides easily....

Lovely update on the 6z run that's come out recently on the ensembles - shows much better grouping of the model runs and the main run is close to the model mean line... all very good indicators of accuracy of the forecast and the temps are showing a good drop back below seasonal norms starting around Monday/Tuesday. Temps shown as staying low right through to 15th at the moment too... yes please!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

carled, yes spot on - in fact Monday has a snowline between 1300m and 1500m and Tuesday to Friday is forecast as "cooler than usual for the season", with an acccuracy actor of 3/5. (ie pretty meaningless really )

More snow forecast for Wednesday in Serre Chevalier too, and freezing level down to village too.

It looks like it's had a bit of a dumping today, to be honest - bit difficult to see, but looked like snow in the village earlier as well as on top... bring it on!

Interesting you say that Helen - can you point me to a recipe please, if you have one, as the chalet we're staying in has a fondue set!
Have promised to come over to Monetier one afternoon to buy Mel a beer or two in the Bar L'Alpen - maybe could catch up with you and say "Hi" as well if you're around?
