jstw, probably because of the extreme avalanche risk? It should open up soon, as the snowpack begins to stabilise and the pisteurs blast more avalanche prone slopes.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Rob - the forecast is for temps to rise slightly (rain/snow level at 1000-ish metres) as the snow comes in on Weds onwards... is this higher temp and wetter snow better for binding/bonding with the stuff that's already fallen or is it a recipe for unstable layers and avalanche risk?

carled, sorry, I don't know enough about snow to say how those conditions will change the snowpack stability. Much better to follow the advice of the pisteurs in the resort, via the avalanche warning level and speaking to them if planning to ski off-piste slopes that might be susceptible to avalanches.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

jstw, it will take some time to piste all the fresh snow, they'll be lots more open in a couple of days.

jstw, I would imagine that if you're checking at 10pm, then none of the lifts will be open. Try http://www.avoriaz.com where it looks like everything is/was running today.
