Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Nice restaurants in Val Thorens

I’m off for a long weekend soon with my girlfriend to Val Thorens, which happens to coincide (fairly closely) to her birthday, so i’d take it as an opportunity to take her out to a nice restaurant (plus it has the added bonus of giving sone nice skiing weekend memories, making it easier to persuade her to do more going forward! wink )

Just wondered if anyone had any restaurant recommendations? And if the more expensive restaurants had any kind of dress code? (I don’t tend to pack anything too smart when I go skiing!!)

Chalet de la Marine just off the Dalles piste is very nice. They do evening excursions there by snowmobile as well I think as it's very close to town. Definitely not noticed a dress code!

It has a Michelin Fork which is apparently a big deal. It is also not cheap, but they do have an amazing range of cakes for pudding.

+1 for Chalet de la Marine - rustic atmosphere etc makes for a nice ambience too.

Cheers, looks like a really good option - it appears that they are only open in the evenings on Wednesday, or have I got that wrong?

No idea unfortunately, although this time of year they may well be opening fewer evenings I guess?

For what it's worth, when we booked lunch there last week, they asked that we come by in the morning (or call in the morning) for lunchtime that day. They don't seem to accept bookings for lunch at least except on the day. Husband got there at about 9.15 to book for lunch and they thought they were full already, although luckily they managed to find us a table. So it's very popular!

Chalet De La Marine is great and an old favourite. Lunch or evenings. Coming up strongly on the rails is http://gb.chezpepenicolas.com/index.php . . . . a bit of a hike but think they may do a minibus or taxi won't be expensive

These are probably better than restaurants in the hotels which is your other option

Le Blachot in the town centre is very nice.
Good typical French cuisine and a nice atmosphere.
